We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers of any age to be part of our growing team. To support our creative community, meet new people, gain work experience, and learn new skills, find out more below.

Volunteering with The Photography Foundation involves supporting across all our activities from assisting at events and with social media, to working with the education team during workshops. Find out more about the roles we recruit for at the below role descriptions.

We offer induction training, ongoing support, and free access to all of our events for volunteers.

Events Volunteer

As an Events Volunteer at the Foundation, you will help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere at our public events. Your main responsibility will be to assist in the smooth running of each event. In this role, you'll work closely with the Events & Engagement Manager and fellow volunteers to set up and reset the studio space, welcome guest speakers, and gather audience feedback, while following our health and safety policy.

This role is perfect for those passionate about supporting events and making a positive impact on the community of young creatives. We’re also happy to tailor your experience to suit your needs and interests.

Learning Volunteer

As a Learning Volunteer at the Foundation, you will help foster a supportive learning environment for our trainees, aged 18-25. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with the smooth delivery of the weekly activities within our six-month photography training programme. In this role, you will work closely with the Education Manager and the Education & Training Coordinator to prepare learning materials, set up and reset the  studio, welcome guest facilitators, conduct research, and archive trainee feedback.

This role is ideal for volunteers who are passionate about education and making a positive impact on the community of young creatives. We are also happy to tailor your experience to suit your needs and interests.

Digital Volunteer

As a Digital Volunteer at the Foundation, you will help enhance the organisation's digital presence. Your main responsibility will be to assist in promoting and showcasing our impact and activities. In this role, you will work closely with the Digital Content Creator and Digital Intern to document events through videos and stories, and create digital assets related to these events.

This role is perfect for volunteers passionate about social media, content creation, and gaining communications experience. We are also happy to tailor your volunteer experience to suit your needs and interests.

FAQs / Please note:

  • You must be over 18 to volunteer with us. If you'd like to volunteer in other ways e.g. a work experience placement please get in touch with us.
  • Our onsite events offer seated spaces.
  • Wheelchair access, lift access, and disabled toilets are available at our site.
  • Please inform us of any access requirements you may have by emailing us at volunteer@thephotographyfoundation.org
  • Guide dogs, hearing, and assistance dogs are welcome.
  • Disabled parking bays are offered to Blue Badge holders outside the North Greenwich Bus Terminal and station building. These are offered on a first come, first served basis and cannot be booked in advance.  For more info click here.
