The Photography Foundation Grant
Social Documentary Photography Grant 2023 - Now OPEN for Submissions
Founded in 2021, the TPF Photography Grant is delivered in partnership with The Photography Foundation and LIMI London charity providing £2,500 towards the production of a social documentary photo essay.
The TPF Photography Grant is for a maximum 12 month period and can be used towards any combination of travel, equipment or living expenses while completing the project.
The TPF Photography Grant winners have their final project printed and exhibited (in partnership with Rapid Eye and the Photo Book Cafe), have their work showcased on the grant partners websites & social media channels and we will be working with strategic partners to publish the completed photographic essay. Additionally, the grant winners are allocated a TPF TALKS evening to give a presentation about their completed project.
We welcome applications tackling a range of social issues and your application should detail clearly the social issue that is being documented and how your project intersects with it. The TPF Photography Grant is a UK-based grant and as such must have a UK focus. The grant is open to any photographer (professional or amateur) from any age range and background.
Applications for the 2023 TPF Photography Grant will open later in the year.

Get Involved & Support Our Work

Support the Foundation
Support comes in all shapes and sizes. Whether you’re a professional photographer with a work experience slot to fill, or a creative professional with advice or insights to share with the next generation, we would love to hear from you. Below are a few ideas of how you could support the Foundation, but if you have an idea of your own or would like more information, please do get in touch.

Option 1
Become a mentor
During the Programme, trainees are matched with a mentor to support them with their career goals during and after the Programme.
Mentors are matched with one trainee, meeting with them once a month for a minimum of 6 months. All trainees are aged 18-25 and have an interest in developing a career in a photography related discipline, and a big part of the mentor role will be to support and encourage this.
Option 2
teach a workshop
During the Programme, trainees have weekly workshops aimed at developing both their technical and professional skills.
To deliver these workshops, we hire professionals with experience (or people looking to grow experience in) teaching subjects including post-production, art direction, portfolio curation and studio lighting.
All workshops take place at our studio in Greenwich, and can either be a full day or half day workshop.

" The team at the Foundation are talented, focused and dedicated to their mission. It's wonderful to find a studio that understands the importance of giving back "
- Aidan Synnott, Director of ASV Photography

Option 3
become a volunteer
As our events programme continues to grow, we are recruiting passionate & committed volunteers who can support these events, such as capturing event photography, checking tickets, capturing feedback and working on the bar.
We are looking for people who are interested in photography & community events - who want to develop their skills and be in a creative & community-focused environment.
Option 4
Become a Supporter
We want to create mutually beneficial and individually tailored partnerships with a range of businesses. We can provide hands-on volunteering experiences for your team and an opportunity for them to share their real-world experience to help inspire the next generation of young people to join the creative workforce.
Benefits of working with TPF:
- Showcase your industry and products to the next generation of young creatives
- Personal development for your team
- Enhance your brand with a new audience
- Help to meet your CSR objectives through projects with tangible and measurable results
